What is DMARC, and why check it?

DMARC tells receiving servers what to do with mail that fails SPF or DKIM, and it gives you reporting on who's sending as your domain. Google and Yahoo have required it from bulk senders since 2024 — for cold email, no DMARC increasingly means the spam folder. This checker reads the live record so you can see exactly what's published.

Reading the policy

The p= tag is the heart of it. p=none only monitors — it protects nothing. p=quarantine sends failing mail to spam, and p=reject blocks it. You generally start at none, then tighten once SPF and DKIM pass cleanly — the p=none vs quarantine guide covers when to move up.

DMARC is one leg of three

DMARC only works when SPF and DKIM are set up and aligned. If you're fixing authentication from scratch, the SPF, DKIM & DMARC setup guide walks all three, and the deliverability checker tests the full set plus blacklists and domain age in one pass.

DMARC is one check. ColdOps watches every client domain daily.
